This year was no different as San Diego’s favorite fish purveyor not only displayed a bounty of fresh fish, but provided sushi-grade seafood for a variety of dishes prepared by the participating chefs and restaurants.

Throughout the event, which this year was held Oct. 6 at the beautiful Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, visitors strolled and sampled premier wines and brews, small plates and desserts. Each dish was created with natural ingredients and careful craftsmanship. Amid a park-like setting overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the scene was quintessential California.

As the festivities wound down, a lucky few came to Catalina’s table inspired by recipes they’d sampled and walked away with whole fish, crab claws and uni to enjoy at home. Owner Dave Rudie masterminded the giveaway as he answered questions about the displayed sea bass, groupers, crab, green and purple sea urchins and more.
